L3Harris has been developing instruments to help meteorologists monitor weather for half a century. Our imager and sounder instruments have flown on all of the U.S. National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Polar-orbiting Operational Environmental Satellites since 1978, and we have provided every imager and sounder on board NOAA’s Geostationary Operational Environmental Satellite (GOES) series since 1994.
Today, our spaceborne sensor technology for environmental monitoring is the most advanced in the world. Next generation satellite systems, like NOAA’s GOES R-Series and Suomi-National Polar-orbiting Partnership and Joint Polar Satellite System, Japan’s Himawari-8, South Korea’s GEO-KOMPSAT 2A, and commercial programs rely on L3Harris imagers and sounders to deliver data back to Earth at unprecedented resolutions and speeds.
Data Receivers and Processing
For more than six decades, L3Harris ground systems technology has been the cornerstone of key global weather information systems, like the U.S. Air Force’s Defense Meteorological Satellite Program and NOAA’s new GOES-R weather satellite system2020欧洲杯正规平台. Today, our IntelliEarth™ Global Weather Solutions, IntelliEarth™ Fusion, enable you to realize the full benefits of next generation environmental satellites, like GOES-R and Himawari-8, and the unprecedented influx of high-resolution data they deliver.
Because modern data sources like satellites, radar, and airport sensors don’t provide frequent and dense enough data on the ground at the local level needed, L3Harris has created a digital platform called Helios®2020欧洲杯正规平台. Helios® closes the weather data gap with products to help companies make real-time decisions.
